Straw is a by-product of agricultural production, mainly including dried stalks of grains and legume crops with grains and bran removed. Conventional straw crops include wheat, oats, barley, rice, rye, millet and other related varieties. The output of straw waste is usually half of the grain output, and therefore becomes the largest agricultural waste type. If the straw is expanded to other vegetation waste types, it also includes some wood straw types. A large amount of water in the combustion water evaporates during combustion, and fuels with a moisture content exceeding 20% will increase the risk of corrosion. The composition of dry fuel mainly contains 50% carbon, 6% hydrogen, 42% oxygen and nitrogen, sulfur, silicon, alkali and chloride. Flue gas containing chlorides and alkali metals will generate sodium chloride and potassium chloride, which will cause serious corrosion to the boiler inner wall and pipes. The ash content is about 2-10%, with an average content of 4%. High-ash fuels are prone to coking and slagging, increasing operation and maintenance costs. Understanding the fuel chemical composition and combustion characteristics is particularly important in the design and operation of straw-throwing biomass power plants.
